How Many Calories Does Doga Burn?

Ever wonder how many calories you are burning when you a performing Doga?  You’re not alone.  However the number of calories an individual burns during a Doga routine is determined by many different factors.  These factors include but are not limited to; your body weight, your dog’s body weight, the length of time each pose is held, the number of times you hold the pose, your dog’s enthusiasm for the different poses, etc.

But even with the many possible factors we can still determine a rough estimate of the number of calories burned while performing a Doga workout; the average person is likely to burn approximately 250 calories for every hour of Doga performed.

For some, this number may appear to be low, but keep in mind Doga is not necessarily performed as a weight loss exercise.  Doga is about strengthening, toning, relaxing and developing.  And perhaps most importantly, it strengthens the bond that exists between you and your dog.

Doga in the East Valley Tribune

Recently the East Valley Tribune in the
Phoenix, Arizona area featured an article on Doga and the Amy Stevens’ Yoga4Dogs Doga DVD!  This was exciting for us because the East Valley Tribune has a readership of about 100,000 each day!  This meant that about 100,000 Arizona residents could learn all about the benefits of Doga!  And anytime we are a part of spreading the good Doga word, we get excited and our tails start to wag…or they would if we had tails!  To read the article just click on the picture of Amy and Ginger below!
